The Madisonville Police are warning people in the area about a phone scam circulating.
According to a release, scam callers are telling people they missed a federal grand jury summons and must pay money immediately to avoid a warrant.
They then demand payment through Bitcoin or other electronic methods.
Madisonville police say if you receive a call like this, don’t send money.
Hang up and call them.
