The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office has launched a program for inmates struggling with substance use disorders.
Southwest Indiana Recovery and Empowerment is a peer-led, non-profit organization operating within the jail to provide reentry support.
SWIRE’s proactive approach ensures that each person leaves the jail with a personalized recovery plan and connections to community resources.
Operations are made possible through local opioid settlement funds allocated by the Vanderburgh County Commissioners and the City of Evansville.
