A Vanderburgh County Jail Officer and his K-9 partner earned first place in the Regional Narcotics Detection Trials.
Austin Jones and his partner, Jaeger, were among 25 other teams from Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio—this phase of the competition tests teams on their ability to locate narcotics during room and vehicle searches.
The narcotic odors evaluated in the certification include cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine.
The trials are a rigorous test of skill, discipline, and teamwork between handlers and their canine partners.
