A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to begin a T-1 steel maintenance project on the southbound U.S. 41 bridge in Henderson starting September 8.
The southbound bridge was built in 1965 using T-1 Steel.
The northbound bridge was built in 1932.
T-1 wasn’t used.
Kentucky Transportation engineers are still working with the contractor to develop a work schedule and a traffic control plan.
This maintenance follows a December 2021 memorandum to all state departments of transportation to identify, inspect and test specific T-1 steel bridges.
