This weekend, the Evansville Police Department will increase patrols and conduct sobriety checkpoints.
They have partnered with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute to curb impaired driving as part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign.
Last year, nearly 14% of all traffic fatalities in Indiana involved alcohol, while more than 35% involved drug impairment.
Sgt. Nick Winsett says the top priority is keeping roads and the community safe.
The campaign runs through Labor Day.
