An Evansville mother has been sentenced for the death of her 2-week-old baby.
23-year-old Denaya Harris was sentenced to 5 years, with 898 days of jail credit, but took a plea deal reducing her sentence to probation.
She was ordered to maintain a mental health treatment plan.
The newborn was found dead in January 2023.
The cause of death was from head trauma and multiple fractures throughout the infant’s body.
The baby’s father, 24-year-old Jacob Washington, was sentenced to 10 years in prison earlier this month.
