An Evansville man has been sentenced after a guilty plea for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
36-year-old James Charleston Jr. has been sentenced to five years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
On August 3, 2024, officers were sent to Garvin Street in Evansville on reports of a distressed man waving a silver gun in the air and pointing it at people.
Officers found Charleston and ordered him to get on the ground.
Charleston refused to comply and told the officers to shoot him.
He was eventually detained.
Officers located a loaded silver 9mm pistol in his waistband.
