Forty-four dogs have been rescued and are now in the hands of the Dubois County Humane Society.
Over the past several days, the shelter’s team has worked around the clock.
13 of the adult dogs tested positive for heartworms, a serious but treatable condition.
The cost of treatment is around $500 per dog, making this a heavy financial burden.
Shelter officials are asking for donations, no matter how big or small.
They believe every dog deserves a second chance at a healthy, happy life.
Donations are being accepted at http://duboiscountyhumane.org.
