The Evansville/Vanderburgh County Emergency Management Agency has confirmed a tornado hit the city’s west side on Friday.
The EF-0 twister began along South Tekoppel Avenue and moved northeast while sustaining 85 mph winds.
The north side was hit with flash floods.
Some businesses along First Avenue had floodwater come inside.
On Saturday, IGA had a sign posted on their door stating they were closed due to flooding.
A comic book store, Secret Headquarters, lost around 80% of its inventory.
Another round of storms with locally heavy rainfall is forecast for today.
