The Warrick County man convicted of killing three people 29 years ago has died in prison at the age of 61.
In March of 1996, Jay and Kathy Tyler and their friend Brandy Southard were shot and stabbed at a rural intersection in Warrick County.
John Mathew Stephenson’s trial was the longest and most expensive in the state.
It took two months for a jury to be chosen due to the media exposure.
Nearly 160 witnesses testified in the 8-month-long trial.
He was convicted of the three murders and sentenced to death.
