Scammers are finding new and better ways to separate residents from their money.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says scammers are using improved technology to “spoof” phone numbers.
It looks like potential victims are talking to law enforcement.
The sheriff’s office says to get the caller’s name, hang up, and call the enforcement agency.
Authorities are getting numerous calls from residents saying scammers are masquerading as sheriff’s deputies, court clerks, jailers, and police officers.
