An emergency hearing today in Evansville over whether journalists should be allowed to witness next Tuesday’s scheduled execution of Benjamin Ritchie.
Advocates for allowing it to maintain its First Amendment Right for the press to be a witness.
Ritchie was convicted of killing Beech Grove Police Officer William Toney in 2000.
The Indiana Parole Board turned down Ritchie’s request for clemency, and Governor Mike Braun has refused to issue a stay of execution.
