An Evansville native is serving on one of the world’s largest warships.
Hospitalman Alex Brust is currently aboard the USS John C. Stennis.
The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier operates out of Newport News, Virginia.
The 2014 F.J. Reitz High School graduate joined the Navy two years ago and serves as a hospital corpsman.
He says the skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Evansville.
The USS John C. Stennis is longer than three football fields and weighs more than 100,000 tons.
More than 5,000 sailors serve aboard these self-contained mobile airports.
