The age to obtain a driver’s permit has been lowered in Kentucky.
On March 25, House Bill 15 went into effect, allowing 15-year-olds to earn their permit.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is making system upgrades so a credential can be issued.
This will allow eligible applicants to take the written test as early as April 2.
State law still requires you to be 16 to obtain a driver’s license.
Applicants can start making an appointment on the Kentucky State Police website.
