Henderson County Water District superintendent Mark Julian says the infrastructure is old and is losing about 43% of the water they buy.
He is asking the fiscal court for a loan and a grant to begin fixing the problem.
Julian estimated needing $2.6 million to get started on the project that could cost upwards of $8 million before itโs finished.
Court members say they need more details, saying they donโt think the water district is asking for enough money.
