Rising flood waters could force deer across Highway 41 near Audubon Park.
Following last weekend’s heavy rainfall, it’s predicted that the Ohio River will crest nearly 40 feet.
This situation often sends large amounts of white-tailed deer onto U.S. 41 traffic.
Deer normally follow trails through the Ohio River bottoms under the Twin Bridges allowing herds to avoid highway traffic.
High water cuts off their normal travel routes.
Road crews are preparing to place signs to alert motorists in 41 near the Stratman Road and Wolf Hills Road intersection.
