A top priority bill introduced last Tuesday in the Indiana House would create an Indiana-Illinois Boundary Adjustment Commission.
That group would have the purpose of embracing several Illinois counties that want to secede from their state and join Indiana.
House Republicans have the bill high up on their list of priorities for this yearโs session.
Seven Illinois countiesโฆ Iroquois, Calhoun, Green, Jersey, Madison, and Perry voted in November to explore breaking away and forming a new state to be admitted to the Union.
House Speaker Todd Huston introduced the bill, suggesting those counties join with Indiana instead.
