Local doctors are seeing a rise in a highly contagious respiratory tract infection.
Over the past 12 months, there have been nine cases of pertussis, also known as Whooping cough.
The disease is easily spread through sneezing and coughing.
Parents are encouraged to check their child’s vaccination records to ensure they’re current.
Doctors also recommend that pregnant women receive the vaccination in their third trimester.
The early signs mimic a cold but are followed by mild fever, runny nose, and a cough that worsens over time.
