Documents were filed on Monday in connection with the death of a Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputy.
33-year-old Asson Hacker died in March of 2023 after he participated in routine physical tactics training at the Southwestern Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield.
Last September, his wife filed a suit against the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Evansville Police, The City of Evansville, and the academy.
Kourtney Hacker alleges her husband was put in unnecessary danger, which led to his death.
The suit could go to trial in July 2026.
