A Knox County sheriff’s deputy tells WIKY News that six people were injured in an accident at the Sunrise Portal Two coal mine.
Two of those injured have been flown from the scene in medical evac helicopters.
Deputy David Linenburg says a vehicle used to transport miners apparently crashed underground causing the injuries.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration — OSHA — is on scene investigating.
