The family of a teenager who died in a plane crash last year is suing his former flight school.
Back in September of 2023, the 22-year-old pilot and flight instructor Timothy McKellar Jr. of Custer, and 18-year-old flight student Connor Quisenberry of Beaver Dam were killed when their plane went down in a rural area of Ohio County.
They were associated with Eagle Flight Academy out of Owensboro.
In the lawsuit, there are claims against the flight instructor, including taking videos and posting them to social media while in charge of the flight.
The lawsuit claims negligence by McKellar and Eagle Flight Academy and is seeking compensation for his wrongful death.
It also named ATP Flight Academy where McKellar got his flight training.
The lawsuit claims ATP knew McKellar was not a safe pilot and didn’t do anything about it.
A hearing is set for October 30.
