The City of Morganfield has been named Community of the Year.
The award was presented at a gathering on Wednesday hosted by the Green River Area Development District.
The city was recognized for its work to develop a new park on a former vacant car lot.
Homestead Park, honors Morganfield’s unique history with a mural painted by local artists.
Funding is underway to construct a splash pad, ADA-accessible restrooms, and a parking lot.
The city recently completed a project renovating the sewers at Earle C. Clements Job Corps for 6 million dollars.
