The Owensboro City Commission has passed an ordinance to create more restrictions for future cannabis dispensaries.
These restrictions are in addition to the ones set by the state.
They include no locations in the downtown overlay, no animated or electronic signs, and only one sign allowed.
The state is no longer accepting applications for dispensaries and processors.
Thousands of applications were submitted statewide.
In January, there will be 48 dispensaries across the commonwealth with four in western Kentucky.
The state will determine which applicants will be awarded licenses by October.
