Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson went before the county council on Wednesday.
He says the pension fund is not heading in the right direction.
Securing the department’s future will take as much as four to five million dollars over the next few years.
Those currently receiving a pension should not expect any disruptions.
Robinson says the funds could become insolvent if no action is taken.
This means in the future pension may not be paid on time or in the amount promised.
The discussion will continue during the next meeting on October 2.
