A surprising number of floating dead fish have been spotted in the Ohio River.
A local fisherman says most of them are carp, and he estimates seeing up to 150 of them.
Many fish are washing up on shore bringing a strong fishy smell.
Officials with the Department of Natural Resources say this often happens around this time of year.
When temperatures are high and water levels are low there’s less oxygen in the water.
It affects the carp population more than other species.
It’ll continue until temperatures drop and water levels rise.
