Thursday a Washington County man was arrested for impersonating a public servant.
A Detective with the Indiana State Police learned that 62-year-old William Salyer allegedly left voicemails with an Arizona man.
Salyer identified himself as a detective with the Indiana State Police.
In the voicemails, he allegedly said he would contact Arizona State Police for theft charges if the locket mailed to him wasn’t returned.
It was learned that a woman residing in Salem had an online relationship with the Arizona Man.
The locket contained a small portion of her deceased son’s ashes and was to be buried on a Native American reservation in Arizona.
When the man returned Salyer’s call he became suspicious that he was not a police officer and contacted ISP.
