The adoption fees at Evansville Animal Care and Control have gone up.
Officials say the vet has raised his price, so animal control had to raise theirs to continue with the upkeep.
The price to adopt a dog is now $157, a $37 increase.
Cat adoption went up from $100 to $127.
Executive of Transportation and Services Todd Robertson says the laws require animal control to spay, neuter, and vaccinate animals before putting them up for adoption.
