A Mt. Vernon police officer was hurt while attempting to serve a warrant.
It happened on Wednesday in the 200 block of West 10th Street.
A sergeant in the area noticed Tony Thompson outside of a home and knew he had an active warrant.
When Thompson saw the officer get out of his patrol car he yelled, “I am not going back to jail” and ran into a house.
The officer followed him into the house and was hurt while attempting to apprehend him.
Thompson is wanted on drug-related charges and taken to the Posey County Jail.
The officer’s injuries are non-life threatening.
