The National Service has sent survey teams to review the damage from Sunday night’s storms.
Thousands of people are without power and damage is widespread, particularly in Hopkins and Muhlenberg counties in Kentucky.
Several people were hurt and one person was killed when a long-track tornado that started in Eddyville hit those counties.
Hopkins Co. Coroner Dennis Mayfield identifies the victim as 48-year-old Sandra Eckard of Dawson Springs.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has declared a state of emergency due to the storm damage in the Commonwealth.
