Newburgh Parks and Recreation board members vote without dissent to demolish the Fortress of Fun playground.
The board paid for an evaluation to see if the iconic playground could be kept open through the summer.
They discovered the facility was in worse shape than they thought.
The evaluation notes that 81 percent of the support poles had issues or serious damage.
Board members voted unanimously to close the playground as of today.
