The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office has identified the person killed over the weekend as 51-year-old Christopher Samples.
Police were called to the Esquire Inn on North Fares Saturday night for a man stabbed in the chest.
Suspect, 36-year-old DeWayne Whitney Jr. came to confront Samples after his girlfriend said that he tried to sexually assault her.
Whitney is seen on surveillance breaking a plexiglass window in the lobby, grabbing the victim by the neck, and then raising his hands with blood on them.
Whitney told a firefighter that he did it.
He is charged with murder and is being held without bond.
