The City of Henderson has been awarded a $245,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant.
The money will go towards upgrades to Anthony Brooks Park located on Madison Street.
Potential plans for the park include the addition of a splash pad and improvements to playground equipment.
The park is named for local civil rights activist Rev. Anthony Brooks Sr.
He was the minister for over 50 years at Seventh Street Baptist Church.
He also marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
He passed away in 2020 at the age of 86.
