EPD on the scene of what turned out to be a crisis intervention.
EPD had a heavy police presence Wednesday afternoon on the east side in the hotel parking lot of the Baymont Inn next to the LaQuinta Inn and Suites. Dispatch confirmed police were called about a suicidal man. Law enforcement suspected the man was armed at first. Area businesses and hotels were on lockdown during the incident as a precaution while police negotiators were successful getting the man to come out of his truck peacefully. Authorities then took him to a hospital. No charges will be filed as EPD is treating the incident as a crisis intervention.
