A Webster County man stands accused of trying to choke a priest during a church service.
It happened Friday night at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Sebree.
Deputies report that 35-year-old Steven Sargent walked into the church wearing only his underwear and a tee-shirt and started yelling at the priest.
He then reportedly assaulted the priest and put his hands around his neck.
The congregation held Sargent down until deputies arrived.
As he was being taken into custody, Sargent told deputies there was an active meth lab in his home that was about to explode.
No meth lab was found and Sargent was jailed on a list of charges.
