The most famous reindeer in the world are known to fly the world pulling a sleigh of toys and a holly jolly man every December. Some people even know the names of all these reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and of course Rudolph leads the way with a bright red nose. But, what you may not know is that every single reindeer pulling that sleigh is a female.
How is that so? According to Live Science, male reindeer shed their antlers early in December, but the females keep those antlers throughout the winter. Not only that, the males get down to 5% body fat during the winter, while the females carry up to 50% body fat and use that for energy and warmth.
