An unknown canine virus has sickened pets in at least 14 states and has the potential to be fatal to dogs.
The mystery virus has been reported across the Midwest, including Evansville.
The illness often resembles other, more common respiratory viruses, but this one doesn’t respond to antibiotics.
The virus is highly contagious and manifests as lethargy, cough, sneezing, and eye discharge.
Prevention includes avoiding dog daycare and dog parks where other canines congregate.
