Vanderburgh County Republican Party leaders are trying to figure out if Libertarian candidate Michael Daughtery meets the requirements to be the next mayor.
When he filled, he listed his primary residence as a home on Pfeiffer Road.
Mike Duckworth says that home is owned by Daughtery’s parents and sits empty.
In 2020 the candidate listed a horse farm on Petersburg Road as his primary address, which is in the county, not the city.
One of the requirements to run for Mayor is the candidate must live within the city limits for at least a year before Election Day.
Daugherty’s attorneys provided mail, utility bills, and a vehicle registration reading the same address. His Attorney’s also made a statement.
The statement reads in part:
“The original plan in 2020 was for Michael to live at the Mane Haven horse farm on Petersburg Road, and he filed a 2020 Indiana Sales Disclosure Form for a homestead credit. Moving his mother to the Mane Haven farm was so she could avoid having to climb stairs after her double knee replacement. In 2022, Michael moved his residence to the Pfieffer Road property which has remained his residence to the present. He meets all residency requirements of the state of Indiana to run for the office of Mayor of Evansville.”
