Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb announced on Tuesday that Vanderburgh and 85 other counties have opted in to receive historic funding to improve the health of Hoosiers.
Health First Indiana guarantees 96 percent of residents access to core public health services.
This includes childhood lead poisoning, heart disease, tobacco cessation, obesity, and maternal and infant mortality.
Under the new legislation, 75 million dollars will be distributed to counties that opted-in starting January 1, 2024.
