Detectives with the Indiana State Police in Sellersburg are investigating a police-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday night.
Neighbors called 9-1-1 after they heard gunshots coming from a home.
52-year-old Lori Carpenter believed to be intoxicated, was spotted with a handgun.
She was non-compliant when ordered to put down the weapon and exit the house.
As officers attempted to open the door, the suspect fired one shot.
SWAT returned fire and struck her.
Carpenter was transported to the hospital in critical, but stable condition.
She has been charged with three counts of attempted murder.
