The Red Skelton Museum Foundation Board of Directors announced Tuesday that the comedian’s estate pledged a gift of $4 million to Vincennes University.
The money will help in the expansion of the museum, which has been a dream of his wife, Lothian Skelton.
The 7,200 square-foot art gallery will showcase his artwork.
Red Skelton began painting in the 1940s to relax and continued throughout his lifetime.
Richard Red Skelton was born in Vincennes in 1918 and is best known for his radio and television shows.
