The Vanderburgh County Coroner released the name of the man killed early Monday morning as 50-year-old David Nalley of Boonville.
An autopsy determined he died from multiple sharp-force trauma.
35-year-old Devin Clements is charged with his murder.
EPD was called to the 1000 block of Cherry Street about an assault in progress.
The two men got into a verbal argument which turned physical.
Clements allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Nalley then fled the scene.
Clements was later located and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail.
