The results are in from Wednesday’s National Speed Awareness Day.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and the Evansville Police Department were monitoring the roads for drivers that were in a hurry.
EPD had a total of 91 stops for the entire day with 44 citations issued with a majority of those on the Lloyd Expressway.
The Sheriff’s Office had made 133 traffic stops for reckless, speeding, or distracted driving by midafternoon.
The campaign wasn’t about how many tickets were issued, it was to warn drivers to stay focused and maintain posted speed limits.
