The Evansville Police Department lost K-9 Taro over the weekend.
Taro was off-duty at home with his handler when he chased a rabbit into the roadway and was hit by a car.
EPD officers and deputies with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office blocked intersections so K-9 Taro could be rushed to the All Pet Emergency Clinic.
Unfortunately, life saving-measures were unsuccessful and Taro passed away.
The police dog began his career with the EPD in September 2021.
A private service will be held for K-9 Taro and he will be laid to rest at the FOP PAL Camp.
