Evansville police arrive at a shots-fired call in the 800 block of East Virginia Street around 4:00 this morning.
While en route, officers got a call that a woman had arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds.
Officers found shell casings at the Virginia Street location and called out crime scene detectives.
Officers were told the victim was walking back from the Virginia Street Food Market when she was shot.
The victim was taken into surgery, and her condition as of the moment is unknown.
No arrests have been made.
