The annual celebration of Sommerfest in Haubstadt, Indiana begins today and will end on the evening of June 17th. Each year, residents of Haubstadt pack into the area between Haubstadt Park and the historical Haubstadt High School gym for food, music, and of course the famous nightly bierstube. Food booths and rides open tonight at 5pm, along with the bierstube at 7pm.
On Friday, expect the same schedule of events to take place, along with packet pickups for the Sommerfest Laufenfest race that includes a 5K and the Lil’ Dutch Run. That race takes place on Saturday morning at 8am. The celebration of Sommerfest is to recognize the German heritage of area residents and to let loose as a community. To see a list of events, you can go to the Sommerfest website. Parking will be available along city streets unless there are signs that say otherwise.
