Evansville Water and Sewer Utility customers may notice a slight change in the taste and odor of their tap water.
This is because of a switch to free chlorine from the frequently used disinfectant chloramine.
This will begin on Monday and continue through July 10.
This practice happens twice a year.
The second switchover will be from August 28 until October 16.
This helps to keep the water mains clean and free of possible harmful bacteria.
The process is safe for people and animals for drinking, cooking, bathing, watering the garden and all other standard uses.
