Two employees with the Pigeon Township Trustee’s Office and a contractor were arrested yesterday for allegedly using taxpayer money in a kickback scheme.
Mariama Wilson, William Payne and Terrance Hardiman are all facing federal charges.
The indictment states the Trustee’s Office hired Hardiman Construction to remodel a Family Shelter.
Wilson and Payne and Hardiman agreed to overcharge the Trustee’s Office with inflated invoices.
Hardiman is accused of taking the extra money and hand off envelopes stuffed with cash to Wilson and Payne.
If found guilty they could go to prison for 20 years.
