The controversial pickleball ordinance came before the Evansville City Council for final action Monday night.
Supporters say the 16 proposed courts would be a major attraction bringing more people to the park.
Those opposed say the courts would become a nuisance to park neighbors and would disrupt wildlife in the area.
The council voted to continue the development of the pickleball courts.
The parks board will meet next week to determine how the project should progress.
