Corrections officer Wyatt Lashbrook was on duty observing cameras inside the Gibson County jail on Sunday afternoon when he noticed an inmate trying to take their life.
Communication officers were alerted and Lashbrook immediately left his post to rescue the inmate.
Officers James Griswold, Lucas Oldham and Cody Lashbrook helped to detain the inmate and assess his physical condition.
The inmate was placed on a protective watch.
The Sheriff’s Office was notified of the incident.
