Gardeners beware of the type of worms you may find in your flower boxes this spring.
The Asian jumping worms have been found in Vanderburgh and Gibson Counties.
These worms are invasive and will strip your garden’s soil of nutrients.
They travel through soil and spread their eggs without being noticed.
It’s best to buy your plants locally, but if you buy online be sure to wash the roots and plant with different soil.
The Asian Jumping worm can grow to 8 inches in length.
Researchers recommend trapping them in a plastic bag or tarp and leave them out in the sun.
